During this breakfast seminar, we will have the pleasure to welcome Dr. Aaron Storey, Director of the Mass Spectrometry lab at Arkana Laboratories, and Dr. Parastoo Azadi, Associate Director of the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at the University of Georgia, both convinced users of our BioSPE® kits.
First, Dr. Aaron Storey will present his work on the implementation of a membranous nephropathy typing assay on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer in clinical practice, and will describe how the use of the BioSPE® PurePep 96 well plates for microelution helped him minimize variances during the desalting step of his protocol. By attending his talk, you will learn that:
- Membranous nephropathy is caused by immune complex deposition in kidney tissue and driven by autoantibodies
- Determining the protein targeted by the immune system is important for etiology, prognosis, and treatment
- A workflow for immune complex extraction and typing membranous nephropathy in frozen tissue by MRM has been developed
- Assays for measuring autoantibody levels in serum are needed by the nephrology community
Then, Dr. Parastoo Azadi will talk about cutting-edge strategies for the enrichment and structural characterization of glycoproteins and will present the advantages of using BioSPE® GlycaClean spin columns for glycopeptide enrichment. Her presentation will focus on the following points:
- Challenges in analysis of glycoproteins from cells or tissues
- Release strategies for glycoproteins
- Enrichment methods for glycoproteins/glycoproteomics
- Enhanced MS fragmentation strategies for glycosidic and ring cleavages of derivatized glycans
- Why we need to pay attention to non-carbohydrate constituent of glycans?
